Animals have long been domesticated by man to cultivate the earth, but they have also been called upon to help cultivate the mind through the delivery of library services. From the historic Pack Horse Librarians of eastern Kentucky to the modern use of camels, donkeys, and elephants in developing countries today, domesticated animals have been used to deliver books and other library materials to remote readers around the world.
