Student Writers, Student Authors and Technology: How Can Teachers Help Students Assert Their Voice
Technology, specifically web blogs and instant messaging has changed how students view writing and yet the common freshman composition course is viewed with apathy by most students. How can technology be used in the class room to help students acquire authorship of their work and engage in writing?

Sheila Sandapen is a teacher of communication arts and English at Neumann College where she has taught for the last four years. She teaches writing and web design. Her goal is to help students understand how technology has shaped our perceptions and how to crtically wade through the disemination of information of the digital age. She holds an M.A. in writing and publishing from Emerson College and is currently working on a doctorate in literature and crticism from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
